PLOT SYNOPSIS OF THE PILOT EPISODE OF MILLENNIAL, A REJECTED 2018 COMEDY SITCOM

At the University of Minnesota, Zachary and his damaged friends look for surrogate fathers on YouTube. Zachary joins the College Republicans but does not attend meetings. Bored with campus life, Zachary falls into a nihilistic reverie. He skips class. He drinks during daytime. He contemplates dropping out of college. However, Zachary’s fortunes appear to change when he meets Alexis, a sophomore journalism major.

Zachary and Alexis become friends. Soon they are dating. On their third date, Alexis returns to Zachary’s dorm room and is repulsed by a red MAGA hat and photos of her boyfriend at a Donald Trump rally. Zachary and Alexis argue. Zachary insists he does not care about politics. Alexis breaks up with him. She is later doxxed by a cohort of weeaboo misogynists on Twitter.

Disillusioned by America’s culture wars, heartsick, and saddled with student debt, Zachary drops out of college and enters the labor market. For months he is unable to find a job. One day, Zachary receives a phone call from an HR representative at Minnesota’s leading furniture manufacturer. Zachary is invited for an interview. The interview goes well but Zachary does not hear back from the company. The job has been outsourced to a robot.
